Why Peaches?
That's asking the obvious, isn't it?  But for those who haven't seen the movie (you better go grab it!), a peach was used to make Sarah hallucinate and fantasize that she was at a masquerade ball with Jareth, thus delaying her in her rescue mission.   So Labyrinth is the main reason this page was created.

Peaches are considered ambrosia and food of the gods according to the Chinese heavenly legends. Specially grown peaches which ripen only every 1000 years are served at the Queen Mother's Birthday. The Queen Mother is mother to the Jade Emperor who is ruler of Heaven. Legend has it also that the Monkey God, Sun Wukong, stole and ate some of the magical peaches and was severely punished for it.

And for those who are really mad about peaches, do you know that they are fat-free and sodium-free, and that they provide vitamins A and C.  There, I just gave all of you reason to indulge more.   :)

If you are eager to get started, proceed on to the Recipes page.

Peach Origins
Peaches have been grown since the prehistoric times and were first cultivated in China. They're considered a Chinese symbol of immortality and friendship.

Before arriving in Europe, they were grown in Persia. The Romans believed that peaches came from Persia and called them Persian Iranian apples. The name peach comes from the Latin word for Persian - prunus persica.
